"Christabella" is an 8.6m traditional carvel planked motor launch, with fibreglass over dynal sheath plywood and has a teak deck. She is powered by a 55hp Perkins 4108 diesel engine, with a conventional shaft drive and a three blade bronze propeller.
The hull has long bilge keels for added stability and for protection should she touch ground on a falling tide whilst at anchor.
The origin of her build is unknown, however it is thought to be in Brisbane around 1937.
A full restoration was undertaken sometime in the early 2000s, by a Gold Coast restaurant owner, who used her to ferry wedding parties to his restaurant.
In around 2008 "Christabella" was sold and moved to Paynesville to cruise the Gippsland Lakes in Victoria.
In May 2013 she was sold again and moved by road transport to South Australia and is currently berthed in beautiful Goolwa, at the mouth of the Murray River.
Famous for the Wooden Boat Festival, Goolwa has access to a large inland waterway with plenty of bays and coves to explore, including the expansive waters of Lake Alexandrina.
